few days after the opening, the installation was demolished. with the curator we decided to still leave it in its new state, in the park. perhaps, by being demolished in its essential meaning, installation begun to show still another aspect of art-work in the world: reflecting the possible results of the side of the human existence nobody wishes to put in the spotlight, and by that, there is given the opportunity for realization of the consequences our choices can create.

kustosinja katarina brešan je ob tem dogodku zapisala / the curator katarina brešan wrote at this event:

On Thursday, June 6, 2019, in the Kromberk Park, we presented the installation of the ceramist Ivana Petan, who planted more than 1100 small clay flowers under the tree. Together with the artist, we were aware of leaving the artwork unprotected, in fact, the installation was created in this respect – as is stated in the introductory text, “the installation is left to nature and man. Time will show what will happen to it.” We were ready to see the work – sooner or later, in one way or another – disappear, and expecting gradual decay and damage – even intentional. On Sunday afternoon, just a week after its positioning, we found an installation completely destroyed. Ivana was positioning it in the park last weekend, from Friday to Sunday, and before that, she made flowers in her studio for several months. In addition to the artist, a number of other museum workers and co-workers took part in the project.

We did imagine the lifetime of the installation slightly longer. An unknown perpetrator or perpetrators intentionally destroyed it and thus eradicated the work of us all. Those of us who believed that the installation would remain in the park, were really naive. On the other hand, being eternal optimists, we still do believe that our work will raise the cultural level. That is why we decided, despite the devastation that happened, for the “work” to stay in the park for some time. As a reflection of the society we live in.
